In the autumn of 2016 ILAB decided to expand its own production capacity. A lease has been signed for additional premises in Thormøhlens gate 41, which is also part of Marineholmen Research Park.
Here two parallel Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS systems) will be established for the production of experimental fish and two fish laboratories for flowing water. The premises are expected to be ready for start-up in 2017, and the overall investment is the largest in ILAB’s history, second only to the actual establishment.
In addition to this, ILAB is also working to establish a RAS research laboratory (RASlab) in close association with ILAB’s expanded operations in T41. The decision on whether this facility will materialise is expected in the course of 2017.
